The top social media sites have seen a lot of movement in the last few years.

Facebook may still be dominant, but TikTok has seen the fastest growth on any social media platform. Since its launch just five years ago, the video-based platform is now fifth for most monthly active users (MAU).

Meanwhile, Instagram has experienced impressive growth and has the number four position for MAU.

This means for brands that want to reach an audience that the choice of social media platforms is growing and changing. And attention needs to be paid to where your demographics may be moving.

Facebook was once the site of all advertising, but is now preferred by an older user group. Gen Z and Millenials have migrated to Instagram and see this space for TikTok.
