How to Resend Welcome Emails to New Users in WordPress

Want to send welcome emails to your WordPress users again?

A welcome email helps build trust with new users and ensures that people remember your site. However, your welcome emails can sometimes end up in spam, or users have not received the email. That’s why it’s important to send welcome emails again.

In this article, we will show you how to get annoyed with new user welcome emails in WordPress.

Why send welcome email again to new users in WordPress?

Creating welcome emails is a great way to customize the emails that new users receive when they sign up for your site. This helps build your brand and makes your site memorable for new users.

However, it is possible that the welcome emails you sent did not reach your user’s inbox. Additionally, email providers like Gmail can also mark your emails as spam.

One of the reasons for this problem is that WordPress hosting services do not configure the mail feature correctly. As a result, your welcome emails cannot reach your users or end up in the spam folder.

To resolve this issue, you can use a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) service. It allows you to use an SMTP server to send WordPress emails and ensure that your emails reach your users.

An SMTP service also allows you to log all emails that are not delivered, so you can easily resend them.

That said, let’s look at how to log welcome emails that did not reach new users in WordPress.

Configure Email Logs in WordPress

WP Mail SMTP is the best SMTP service for WordPress. It’s super easy to use and connects easily with popular email services like Sendinblue, Gmail, Office 365 and more.

With WP Mail SMTP you can track email delivery in WordPress. The plugin records every email sent from your site and lets you send emails that are not delivered again.

Note: You need the WP Mail SMTP Pro version to use the email log feature and resend welcome emails to new users. There is also a free version of WP Mail SMTP that you can use to get started.

First, you need to install and enable the WP Mail SMTP plugin on your site. For more details, please see our guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

After activation, you can go to WP Mail SMTP ┬╗Settings from your WordPress dashboard and then enter the license key. You can find the key in your WP Mail SMTP account area.

Enter the WP Mail SMTP license key

Once you have entered the license key, go ahead and click on the ‘Confirm Key’ button.

Next, you can scroll down to the Mailer section and choose how you want to send your WordPress emails.

Select SMTP Mailer

All you have to do is select your favorite mailer. The PHP mail will be selected by default, but we do not recommend using this method as it is not reliable.

You can follow our detailed guide on how to use free SMTP server to send WordPress emails.

Then you can go to the ‘Email Log’ tab in WP Mail SMTP settings and select the ‘Enable log’ option check box. This way you will be able to track email delivery in WordPress.

Enable email log tracking

When you enable the option, you will see additional email tracking options on the Email Log tab.

Go ahead and select the check box for Log Email Content, Save Attachments, Open Email Tracking and Click Link Tracking so you have more email delivery data.

Additional email log settings

Next, you can select the time period to keep the email logs. Simply select an option from the ‘Log Retention Period’ drop-down menu and click the ‘Save Settings’ button.

After setting up email logs, you can now see which welcome emails did not reach your users and which ones should be resent.

To get started, simply navigate to WP Mail SMTP ┬╗Email Log from your WordPress administration area.

See email log opens and clicks

The plugin shows all your emails under this section. You can see the subject of the email, who it was sent to, the source, and whether users opened and clicked on the email.

If you see a red dot for an email, it means it was not delivered. On the other hand, a green dot indicates that the email has reached the user’s inbox.

To send a welcome email that was not delivered again, go ahead and click on the ‘View Log’ option.

View email logs for resend

Now you will see log files for the individual email. Then navigate to the ‘Actions’ tab and click the ‘Resubmit’ button.

Click the Submit button again

A pop-up window will now appear. Simply enter the recipient’s email address and click the ‘Yes’ button to resend the email.

Click yes to resend email

Next, if you see multiple emails that were not delivered, you can use the bulk mail feature from the email log screen.

Go ahead and select the checkbox next to the emails you want to resend. Then select the ‘Resend’ option from the bulk action drop-down menu.

When a pop-up window appears, you can click the ‘Yes’ button to resend multiple emails.

That is it! WP Mail SMTP will resend welcome emails and any other email that does not reach the new users.
